Dorris Coleman was born June 14, 1933, in Georgianna, Alabama, to the late RC and Zora Lee (Herbert) Coleman. He was called home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2024.
Dorris left Georgianna for greener pastures and landed in Galesburg, Illinois and later moved to Kansas. He was an entrepreneur early in life as the proprietor of two businesses, Coleman's Carwash and the A&C Lounge. Dorris later became a track inspector for BNSF Railroad, until his retirement in 1998.
Dorris professed a belief in Christ at an early age and continued his relationship with the Lord throughout his life. Dorris was always ready to share the love of the Lord and let His light shine through him by way of his endearing smile, his affectionate, strong, look you in the eye handshakes, and his hugs. He was a beloved member of Second Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He later joined Holmeswood Baptist Church, in Kansas City, Missouri.
